AZTEC TENTS’ FIRST ANNUAL BUILDING INNOVATION CONFERENCE UNITES EVENT RENTAL INDUSTRY LEADERS UNDER CALIFORNIA SUNSHINE

Tent Manufacturing Leader Hosts 13 Clients To Discuss 2007 Goals and Trends, New Products and Customer Service

A BRIEF HISTORY OF AZTEC TENTS

Torrance, CA – During two sun-soaked days in October, Aztec Tents – one of the nation’s leading tent manufacturers – played host to a select group of event rental companies to discuss upcoming trends for 2007, new product offerings and improved customer service. Based in Southern California’s picturesque South Bay, Aztec Tents specializes in providing high-quality structures for a wide array of clients, many of which comprise the nation’s top event rental firms.

Representatives from event rental companies throughout the U.S. gathered for Aztec Tents’ first-ever Building Innovation conference on October 17 and 18. Building Innovation provided Aztec Tents’ representatives with the opportunity for one-on-one contact with clients to learn from customer input on various topics, including inventory, marketing, freight, customer service, and new products.

“The Building Innovation conference is a way for us to say thank you to many of our clients throughout the country,” said Chuck Miller, President of Aztec Tents. “Subsequently, we were presented with a unique opportunity to learn how we can continue to improve our products and service, while also educating our clients about what to expect from Aztec Tents in the years to come. Ultimately, I believe the Building Innovation conference and other similar events are integral to the continued prosperity of our industry.”

Guests arrived to the Los Angeles area on Tuesday, October 17, and the first item on the agenda was acquainting guests with the area and with each other. Aztec Tents representatives, including Miller and National Sales Manager Alex Kouzmanoff arranged for dinner and cocktails at Hennessey’s Tavern on the scenic Hermosa Beach Pier.

“We wanted to make sure everyone was comfortable because Building Innovation is a new concept, and many of our customers had never been part of something like this before,” Kouzmanoff said. “Dinner was a great way to introduce everyone to Southern California and prepare us for our in-depth discussions about our business and the industry.”

On Wednesday morning in a conference room just a few feet from the guest’s hotel and the Pacific Ocean, Miller and Kouzmanoff hosted a roundtable discussion on topics including the history of Aztec Tents, the ongoing challenges of doing business, new and existing product offerings, marketing and customer service. Many guests were happy to offer insight as to how Aztec could better serve their needs, while continuing to provide the stellar customer service for which the company is known.

Following the morning meeting, guests were transported about three miles inland to Aztec Tents’ Torrance-based headquarters, where they toured Aztec’s offices and productions facility. Aztec employees filled the warehouse as guests observed the unique processes involved in building a tent, from sizing and cutting fabric to assembling and shipping center poles.

“Often times we become so involved with our own businesses, that we neglect to learn about how our colleagues and partners do what they do,” said Ed Knight, Chief Executive of EventQuip. “Aztec Tents’ Building Innovation conference allowed me and other event rental executives to see how and where our products are developed, and it provided us an opportunity to present feedback on topics that would ordinarily remain undeveloped.”

Guests returned to their hotel rooms during the late afternoon before Building Innovation’s culminating group activity: a luxury box experience at the Los Angeles Kings’ NHL hockey game. Aztec Tents filled its Staples Center luxury box with food and cocktails while guests watched the Minnesota Wild defeat the Kings 2-1. The Building Innovation conference concluded on Thursday.

“To us, Building Innovation was successful because we were able to get in-depth feedback regarding how we can continue to improve our business,” Kouzmanoff said. “I hope – and I believe – that our clients feel that this conference was valuable to their respective businesses, as well. I think that by assembling some of the brightest minds in the business we’ve all done something remarkable, especially within an industry that is new to this type of collaboration.”

Aztec Tents plans to continue Building Innovation on an annual basis.

November 2006 marks the one-year anniversary of Aztec Tents’ sale of its rental division. Over the last three years, Aztec Tents – now an exclusive tent manufacturer – has increased annual revenues by seven times, increased production facility space by eight times, increased employee count by five times, and increased daily production by ten times.
