Leran Schwartz

Design Manager

Leran joined the Aztec Tents team in 2026, bringing a powerhouse of over 25 years of multi-disciplinary experience to his role as Design Manager. His extensive background spans architecture, industrial design, and most recently, event design, giving him a unique 360-degree perspective on structural aesthetics and functional spaces.

A Southern California resident since 2019, Leran is deeply motivated by the intersection of innovative shading solutions and the collaborative design process. He thrives on working alongside others to turn complex concepts into elegant, tangible realities.

Leran’s formal foundation in design was established at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where he earned his degree in Industrial Design in 2006. This academic background fuels his lifelong curiosity; when he isn’t designing for Aztec, he is often deep in creative exploration through 3D printing and pottery, blending modern technology with traditional craftsmanship reflecting his belief that great design lives at the intersection of art, craft, and function.

Above all, Leran believes that every individual possesses a distinct set of gifts and skills. At the heart of Leran's philosophy his personal motto says it best: "Be your genius!"

Frame Tents

Frame Tents feature a skeleton of aluminum framework and steel connectors to support the tent top. Although this style of tent is "free-standing" by design, it still must be anchored to resist wind forces. All styles of frame tents have no poles that come to the ground in the interior space of the tent.

Pole Tents

Pole tents rely on tension in the membrane to hold the shape of the tent system. These tents are supported by single or multiple centerpoles in the middle of the tent area and a series of sidepoles around the perimeter of the tent area. The tent is tensioned toward the anchoring locations commonly with a rope or ratchet strap.
