Six Decades of Innovation: Aztec Tents Celebrates 60 Years of Building the Future of Fabric Structures
TORRANCE, California — 2026 — In an industry where success is measured by reliability, innovation, and trust, Aztec Tents proudly celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2026, marking six decades of engineering solutions that have helped shape the modern event rental and temporary structure industry. Since opening its doors in 1966, the company has grown from a regional tent manufacturer into one of North America's leading designers and manufacturers of commercial event tents and engineered fabric structures. While the products have evolved dramatically over six decades, the company's mission has remained remarkably consistent:
Build exceptional products. Solve customer problems. Never stop improving.
Today, Aztec serves customers throughout North America, South America, Europe and Australia in markets ranging from event rentals and event hospitality venues to sporting facilities, industrial storage, emergency response, and outdoor trade show displays. But this milestone isn't simply about looking backward. It is about recognizing how dramatically both the company—and the industry—have transformed.
A Timeline of Innovation

The 1960s- A Company is Born
In 1966, commercial tents were primarily canvas products assembled with steel components and traditional construction methods. Events were simpler. Tents were smaller. Engineering standards were limited. Aztec entered the industry believing quality craftsmanship and dependable customer service would always matter. Sixty years later, they still do.
The 1970s- Growing Alongside an Industry
Outdoor events became larger. Rental companies became more sophisticated. Commercial event tents shifted from canvas to vinyl. Customers expected products that lasted longer and installed faster. Aztec expanded manufacturing capabilities while continually refining products for durability and efficiency.
The 1980s- Raising Expectations
Outdoor events became increasingly ambitious. Rental companies needed equipment capable of supporting larger crowds with greater reliability. The first clearspan tent structures were introduced to the North American market. The first true tension-style pole supported tents are developed and introduced to the industry. Aztec introduced the first expandable frame tent.
The 1990s- Engineering Changes Everything
The fabric structure industry experienced tremendous advances in design and depth. Aluminum structures became much more sophisticated. Computer-aided engineering improved safety. Customers began expecting engineered solutions rather than simply tents. Aztec invested heavily in designing products that combine structural performance with ease of installation. The Legend Series Dual-Expandable tension tent was introduced.
The 2000s- From Manufacturer to Partner
The role of the manufacturer expanded. Customers wanted technical expertise, engineering support, training, education, responsive customer service. Aztec embraced that evolution by becoming more than a supplier—it became a long-term business partner invested in helping customers succeed. Aztec introduces the Jumbotrac®, the Tidewater® Sailcloth Tent, and the Compatible Plus® product lines.
The 2010s- Redefining What Fabric Structures Can Be
The industry expanded beyond temporary events. Fabric structures became permanent venues, restaurants, breweries, sports facilities, luxury wedding venues, industrial warehouses, educational campuses, municipal projects. At the same time, new product families—including advanced keder systems, aluminum frame technologies, and architecturally inspired structures—opened entirely new markets for customers. Aztec introduces Jumbotrac® Lite, Timbertrac™, and creates an e-commerce division under the Tentpros.com trade name.
The 2020s- Innovation Accelerates
The pace of change has never been faster. Digital design. Rapid engineering. Online education. Customer self-service. Supply chain transformation. Higher safety expectations. Faster mechanized installations. More demanding applications. Today's customers need more than equipment. They need expertise, training, engineering, ideas, responsive support. That is where Aztec continues investing. Aztec introduces the Adena™, and the Tidewater® Arch frame tents
Looking Toward 2036
The next decade will likely transform the fabric structure industry more than any before it.
Customers will expect: Faster engineering turnarounds; Greater customization; Sustainable manufacturing; AI-assisted design tools; Digital project planning; Smarter installation resources; Permanent and hybrid fabric structures; Greater product modularity; Enhanced training and certification; More integrated customer support
Aztec Tents intends to lead that evolution. It has identified four strategic commitments that will guide the next decade.
1. Design Better Structures-Continue developing innovative frame systems and engineered fabric structures that simplify installation while expanding architectural possibilities.
2. Invest in Customer Success-Expand technical education, installer training, engineering resources, and business support to help customers become more successful.
3. Deliver a Better Customer Experience-Continue investing in digital tools that make it easier to research, configure, order, and support Aztec products.
4. Never Stop Improving-Maintain the mindset that has defined the company for sixty years:
Listen. Learn. Improve. Repeat.
More Than Products
The true legacy of Aztec cannot be measured simply by the number of tents manufactured. It is measured by the businesses built. The events celebrated. The communities served. The emergency shelters deployed. The stadiums covered. The weddings remembered. The festivals enjoyed. The generations of customers who have trusted Aztec to help make those moments possible.
A Message From Leadership
"Reaching sixty years is something we're incredibly proud of, but longevity alone isn't success. Success is earning the trust of customers year after year by continuing to innovate, solve problems, and deliver on our promises. Every decade has challenged us to evolve, and every decade has made us better. As we look ahead, our commitment remains the same: to help our customers build stronger businesses while continuing to advance what's possible with fabric structures."- Alex Kouzmanoff, President, Aztec Tents
