Pole Tents: Tidewater® Sailcloth Tents

Inspired by the sea, the sculpted peaks and eaves of the Tidewater® Sailcloth Tent combined with a no valance design create an open airy event space like nothing you’ve ever experienced. The highly translucent sailcloth fabric allows natural light to enhance your next daytime event and positively glows when lit for evening gatherings. The Tidewater® top is constructed of ProSail™III  proprietary sailcloth material and features catenary shaped perimeter reinforcements and striking sun shaped eave and peak reinforcements that add to the unique feel of the tent. All leg spacing throughout remains 10’ regardless of tent size. The entire product line is available in both one piece and expandable versions and each is also available in a fully engineered design. FAQs

The answer is sidewall!  In order to keep all of our wall at a standard 10’ width the radiused corners (round ends) of the Tidewater require widths such as 32’, 44’ 51’ 57’ 66’ and 82’.  The benefit to this is that any 10’ Tidewater Wall will fit anywhere on any size Tidewater Tent

Technically speaking Tidewater Tents have a wall rope that you can hang standard tent wall on.  It won’t fit well or look very good, but you can do it.  We make sidewall specifically for the Tidewater for the following reasons:

  • Tidewater wall is only 10’ wide and is built with either buckles or an integrated bag so that the walls can be rolled up when they aren’t needed.  You don’t want to try and roll-up 20’ or 30’ of sidewall (trust us!)
  • Tidewater Tents do not have a valance.  Because of this, the construction of the Tidewater wall is built to create a weather tight seal against the tent top.
  • Tidewater sidewall incorporates web/and buckle pole straps to attach to your sidepoles.  This reduces the amount your walls will blow around in the wind.

Yes, but probably not for the reasons you are thinking.  Although the Tidewater is considerably lighter weight (approx. 30% lighter than a comparably sized blockout fabric tension tent) The fabric and reinforcements allow us to achieve a very strong tent (Engineering:  ASCE 7-10 115mph-44.2mph Exposure “C”).   The extra care required with the Tidewater has more to do with the high translucent properties of our Prosail III fabric.  Stains on the tent top, either inside or outside, will silhouette against the sun and show more readily than a blockout viny tent.  Keeping the tent clean and drying it before storing are vital to keeping the Tidewater looking great.  The tradeoff is well worth it though.  The same translucency that allows stains to be seen is also arguably the tents most important feature – High light transmission.   Once you have been under a Tidewater Tent you will know exactly what we are talking about.

Frame Tents

Frame Tents feature a skeleton of aluminum framework and steel connectors to support the tent top. Although this style of tent is "free-standing" by design, it still must be anchored to resist wind forces. All styles of frame tents have no poles that come to the ground in the interior space of the tent.

Pole Tents

Pole tents rely on tension in the membrane to hold the shape of the tent system. These tents are supported by single or multiple centerpoles in the middle of the tent area and a series of sidepoles around the perimeter of the tent area. The tent is tensioned toward the anchoring locations commonly with a rope or ratchet strap.
